We had already witnessed many unfortunate injuries throughout the regular season and playoffs, and it just got worse.

First, the Phoenix Suns announced that Chris Paul has entered the league's health and safety protocol and is out indefinitely.

Moments later, it was announced that the Los Angeles Clippers will be without Kawhi Leonard for Game 5 with a knee injury, and he, too, will be out indefinitely.

Leonard apparently hurt his knee late in Game 4 and had already told his teammates to prepare for him to be out. He landed awkwardly in the fourth quarter of Game 4 and grimaced in pain. He briefly played after the injury but didn't finish the game as the Clippers had already secured the win.

Leonard's status for the remainder of the series is in doubt as well. There is a good chance that he doesn't play or may try to play injured if the team's back is against the wall.

As for the Suns and Paul, they have some time for him to recover from protocol since Phoenix swept through the Denver Nuggets and are awaiting the winner between the Clippers and Jazz. Worst case, they might not have him for the first two games, depending on how long they have to wait.

It is certainly tough for both teams, losing star players who have carried them this far into the postseason. There will be a lot of pressure on Paul George and Devin Booker, respectively.
