LAKERS INTERVIEW FORMER WIZARDS COACH FOR ASSISTANT POSITION

BY BRANDON MARCUS
It sounds like Scott Brooks might not be taking much of a break after being fired by the Washington Wizards. The former head coach of the Wiz and the Oklahoma City Thunder has been interviewed by the Los Angeles Lakers for a possible assistant coach position under Frank Vogel.

As the tweet above says, the Lakers have already hired former Knicks coach David Fizdale following the departure of assistant coach Jason Kidd. Kidd left LA when he received the head coach gig with the Dallas Mavericks and it sounds like the Lakers are really stacking their coaching roster in his absence. Technically, there is no limit to the number of assistant coaches a team can have, although only three of them can sit on the bench with the head coach.

If Brooks joins Fizdale under Vogel, that will be two former head coaches helping to lead the purple and gold next season.

Brooks was relieved of duty after the Washington Wizards got eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. Previously to that, he coached the Thunder to the playoffs five times.
